Encouraging Students to Build Social Awareness, IPEKA Puri Holds SKIPI Water Run 2024

IPEKA Puri Christian School held SKIPI Water Run, a 5KM fun run for the public. Held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, SKIPI Water Run was attended by around 1,000 participants from IPEKA's internal members and the general public. SKIPI Water Run is one of a series of SKIPIJAM activities commemorating IPEKA's 45th Anniversary.

SKIPIJAM is an annual event routinely organized by the students of IPEKA Puri Christian High School and has entered its 16th year. This year, in addition to the SKIPI Water Run, SKIPIJAM also held various activities such as bazaars, workshops, social services, and SKIPI Cup, a talent competition between high school and junior high school students in Jakarta. The SKIPIJAM series of events are prepared by 12th-grade students, with the support of volunteers from 10th and 11th-grade students, teachers, and employees of IPEKA Puri Christian School.

This year, SKIPIJAM also held social activities such as the Low-cost Market which helped the community by providing daily staples at affordable prices. In this activity, the community was also provided with free health check-up services in collaboration with Mandaya Royal Hospital and Ciputra Hospital.

In addition, SKIPIJAM also collaborates with Plasticpay to present a Dropbox or Reverse Vending Machine that can exchange plastic waste for money. This cooperation program can increase the initiative of the community, especially students to participate in maintaining environmental cleanliness.

Head of IPEKA Puri Christian Senior High School, Vivianti Kristanto Jacob said, β€œ The real education is not only to produce students who excel academically but also to build good and virtuous characters. Through this SKIPIJAM series, students are expected to have a sportive spirit of competition, love for the environment, and social care for the community,” said Vivianti.

SKIPI Water Run has an on-road route around the Puri Indah area with start and finish at IPEKA Puri Christian School. To ensure the smooth running of the event, SKIPI Water Run collaborates with the location manager, local police, Koramil, Department of Transportation, and Department of Environment for participants' sanitation facilities. In addition, 4 ambulance units and medical personnel from local hospitals were also on standby to serve the medical needs of the runners during the event.

SKIPIJAM Committee Chairman, Steven Adriel Sugiharto, from Grade 12 Science 1, expressed his hopes for this event. β€œThe series of activities of the 16th SKIPIJAM is expected to make the school proud and become a memorable and unforgettable moment for all participants. At the same time, with the many activities and self-development activities, we believe SKIPIJAM 16 can be a channel for the talents of students who will one day be a blessing to others,” he said.

Participants who participate in the SKIPI Water Run only need to pay a ticket for IDR 200,000 per person. Each participant will receive a medal, jersey, bag, water and refreshments, and race bib. Not only that but interesting door prizes are also provided for SKIPI Water Run participants.

In addition to the Fun Run, the series of events on that day was also enlivened by various performances of IPEKA Puri students from kindergarten to high school level. There was also Zumba Class, Talkshow, and Band Performance.
