IPEKA Christian School in collaboration with Persekutuan Gereja-gereja Tionghoa Indonesia (PGTI) and the Vaccination Center of Gereja Kristus Yesus (GKY) held a Covid-19 Vaccination Center at the IPEKA PLUIT Christian School, North Jakarta. This program is carried out to support the Indonesian government's program, which is to accelerate the delivery of the Covid-19 vaccine to the community to create herd immunity or communal immunity in the community. This activity is in collaboration with Graha Kedoya Hospital and assisted by several volunteer doctors coordinated by PGTI.
In the scope of education, the vaccination program has been running since early 2021 until now. All school equipment, from educators to students, is targeted as vaccine recipients. The expansion of the vaccine recipient group to children and adolescents aged 12-17 years is the government's effort to encourage the acceleration of limited face-to-face learning (PTM) while maintaining strict health protocols.
In line with this, Handojo as the President Director of Operations for IPEKA Christian Schools said that the implementation of the Covid-19 Vaccination Center at the IPEKA PLUIT Christian School is a tangible manifestation of IPEKA's support in realizing PTM by government regulations.
“The health and safety of students is the main commitment for us at IPEKA. Therefore, through this vaccination activity, we hope to protect the preparation of PTM for students," said Handojo.
The Covid-19 Vaccination Center at IPEKA PLUIT Christian School will be held from 12 to 14 July 2021 from 07.30 to 12.30 WIB. The target recipients of the vaccine in this program are students from all locations of IPEKA Christian Schools at the junior and senior high school levels as well as alumni or at least 12 years old. The total vaccine recipients were 1,254 people. The type of Covid-19 vaccine given is Sinovac with a complete dose or given the first and second doses.
Registration for the Covid-19 Vaccination Center participants at IPEKA PLUIT Christian School opens on July 6, 2021. Registration is informed through IPEKA Christian School's social media and broadcast messages to parents or guardians of students. Participants fill out the online form provided and must choose a vaccination schedule, namely the day and time of the vaccination activity. After registering, participants will receive registration confirmation and a vaccine invitation letter, then participants are required to confirm arrival.
The vaccination process is divided into four activities, namely 08.00 – 09.00, 09.00 – 10.00, 10.00 – 11.00, and 11.00 – 12.00. This is to avoid crowds and during the activity, a strict health protocol is applied by IPEKA along with PGTI and GKY.
The Covid-19 Vaccination Center at IPEKA Christian School is very helpful for IPEKA students and their families, as stated by Liaw Desi Heryawati, the parent of a 10th-grade student at IPEKA PLUIT Christian High School. “I am very grateful and grateful for the vaccination program from IPEKA which really helps us, especially those who have children aged 12-17 years. So we don't have to bother looking for vaccination locations for our children. The vaccination at IPEKA PLUIT also ran smoothly and orderly. All officers carry out their duties very well and according to health protocols. I hope that by participating in this vaccine program, all of our children will be healthy. Hopefully, IPEKA will get better in all fields and can be an example for others,” said Desi.
