On December 9, 2023, the IPEKA Christian School family gathered joyfully at GKY Mangga Besar to attend a special service with the theme "Christmas: The Example of Total Obedience" based on Philippians 2:5-8. The speaker for this service was Rev. Armand Barus, who gave the word of God with passion. The service was also blessed with choir participation from IPEKA Grand Wisata teachers, GW Brothers, and GW Sisters.
The verse Philippians 2:5-8 became the foundation of God's word that day, bringing us to reflect on the total obedience of the Lord Jesus Christ. Rev. Armand Barus lovingly explained the incredible obedience of the Lord Jesus who, despite being God, willingly descended into humanity and even died on the cross to atone for the sins of mankind.
In His obedience, the Lord Jesus set an extraordinary example:
- Not considering equality with God as a right to be maintained.
- Emptying Himself by taking the form of a servant and becoming like men.
- Humbling Himself by living as a human being, experiencing all the sufferings, and finally obeying to death on the cross.
Rev. Armand Barus invited the whole congregation to reflect on the greatness of the obedience of the Lord Jesus and how we as His people can follow His example. He emphasized that obedience is not a forced obligation, but a choice based on love for God.
May the spirit of Christmas and Christ-like obedience remain burning in the hearts of every IPEKA teacher and employee, bringing blessings and happiness in every step of their life journey.
