IPEKA BALIKPAPAN I Christian School implement National Curriculum integrated with ICE (IPEKA Christian Curriculum ). Curriculum which is developed to improve students academic competence, shape their Christian character and build their Christian worldview. Students are not only educated to be excellent in science and knowledge but also taught holistically to have a strong character and close relationship with God so that they will understand their destiny in God’s design.
RETREAT
In order to provide a channel for students to grow spiritually , we held spiritual retreat for students. Through spiritual retreat students have their spiritual life equipped. They are encouraged to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and to urge them to grow spiritually. Apart from spiritual retreat, students’ spiritual coaching is also conducted through other activities such as: morning reflexion prior to learning activity, students’ spiritual spiritual service, joint spiritual growth group, Joyfull day/Happy day (child Bible school).
Extracurricular Activities
To explore and cultivate students’ talents, we facilitate students by providing various extracurricular activities such as : Spelling bee, Robotic, English Corner, Math Club, Choir, Guitar, Theater, Modern Dance, Basketball, Futsal, and Swimming.
Field Trip
To give real learning experience, we take students to learn out of class through Field Trip. Field Trip adds a lot more fun to learning activities, and also aims at making students able to understand the relevance of the science and knowledge they learn at school to their daily life. In addition, they can directly interact with the learning resources. We have visited several places such as batik factory, bank, airport and many others. Especially for the level of junior high school, Field Trip is also carried out in Jakarta to visit several tourist attractions and IPEKA Christian Schools for sharing knowledge.
Student Performance
We hold Student Performance regularly as the summit event when students complete their study at kindergarten level. Through this activity students demonstrate their talents. They also have an opportunity to sharpen their self-confidence in front of the public, where their learning product they have achieved while learning at the kindergarten is displayed to their teachers, friends and parents.
Parenting Class
It is an educational program for parents who are our partners in educating the students. Though this program we facilitate meeting between the parents of playgroup students to discuss and share family problems together with expert speakers. Through this meeting, each parents learn from each other and enrich themselves so that they can enhance their effectivity to educate the children God has entrusted to them.
