Future Leaders in Action: IICS MUN 2025 at IPEKA INTEGRATED Christian School

IPEKA Integrated Christian School (IICS), a prominent Christian school in Jakarta, recently hosted the Model United Nations (MUN) 2025 conference, drawing participation from over 50 schools across the Greater Jakarta area. This event provided students with a platform to engage in diplomatic discussions, enhance public speaking skills, and deepen their understanding of global issues.

Participants assumed the roles of delegates representing various United Nations member countries, articulating their assigned nation's stance on pressing global matters. The conference addressed critical topics such as racism, gender discrimination, and the preservation of cultural values. The central theme, "Weaving Our Past: Preserving Culture and Empowering Marginalized Communities," aimed to encourage the younger generation to value and uphold both local and global cultures while empowering marginalized communities.

Anika Browne Jones, Junior and Senior Academic Principal at IICS, highlighted that the MUN aligns with the school's International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, which emphasizes philosophy and contemporary global issues. She noted that many students are keenly interested in these critical topics, and the MUN offers a valuable opportunity to explore solutions and promote harmony among diverse communities.

The Secretary-General of IICS MUN 2025, Chloe Herliv Chen, emphasized that the conference not only served as a platform for diplomatic engagement but also played a crucial role in developing youth leadership skills, fostering lasting relationships, and nurturing a sense of global community.

Vice Principal of Student Affairs, Eko Sulistiyanto, mentioned that this year's MUN marked the second iteration of the event, expanding from an internal school activity to a larger conference involving over 250 participants from various schools. He highlighted that the MUN is part of the Student Initiative Club, where students take the lead in organizing and managing the event, with minimal teacher involvement.

Through initiatives like the MUN, IPEKA Integrated Christian School continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing a holistic education that equips students with the skills and values necessary to navigate and contribute positively to an increasingly complex world.
