​​Happy Commemorating the Day of Birth of Pancasila

The Republic of Indonesia commemorates the day of birth of Pancasila as the basis of the Indonesian state on June 1 every year. Pancasila is the source of all sources of law that become the benchmark in assessing the applicable law in Indonesia. Laws that apply and are enforced in Indonesia must reflect a sense of justice in accordance with the values of Pancasila. 

History of Pancasila's Day of Birth

The commemoration of Pancasila's Day of Birth was officially set on June 1, 1945, when President Soekarno read a speech at the Dokuritsu Junbi Cosakai trial or the Investigating Agency for Preparatory Work for Independence (BPUPKI). This speech was formulated into Pancasila or the basis of the Indonesian state.

Pancasila has 5 (five) precepts which include philosophische grondslag (a fundamental, philosophical, thought that is in the deepest part of the heart to establish an independent and eternal Indonesian state), namely:

  • Nationalism
  • Humanity (internationalism)
  • Deliberation, consensus, representation
  • Social welfare
  • Cultured Divinity

The Theme of the Day of Birth of Pancasila 2022

This 2022, the theme of Pancasila's Day of Birth is "Rising Together to Build World Civilization (Bangkit Bersama Membangun Peradaban Dunia)." This theme is in accordance with the current situation of the Indonesian nation which is trying to rise together in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Quoting from the Circular of the Head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency, this year's ceremony to commemorate the Day of Birth of Pancasila will be held at the Ende Pancasila Field, Kotaraja Village, North Ende District, Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province in a hybrid ceremony and will be attended by the President, Vice President, heads of state institutions, representatives of friendly countries in Indonesia, representatives of the Republic of Indonesia abroad, and all invited guests.
