IPEKA Palembang successfully held the IPEKA Palembang Fun Run 2025 as part of its Open House event. The goal was to introduce IPEKA to the wider community and promote a healthy, active lifestyle. The event took place on Saturday, April 12, 2025, and welcomed over 700 participants. These included students, teachers, parents, and members of the general public. It was a joyful moment that brought people together in the spirit of unity and health.
With the theme “Together We Run, Leave Your Mark!”, the event featured two race categories: a 5K Individual Run and a 2.5K Family Run. The race route ran through the Simpang Patal Palembang area, with the start and finish lines located at IPEKA Palembang Christian School.
This was the first-ever Fun Run organized by IPEKA Palembang. According to Head of School Ling Er, the event was about more than just exercise. “This Fun Run is a space to create memories and leave a positive impact,” she said. “It teaches core values like solidarity, empathy, and a strong sense of community.”
A True Community Effort
What made this event special was the collaboration behind it. In other words, the planning involved students, teachers, staff, and parents working together. It was a true example of character education in action through active participation.
Kurjini Simatupang, Vice Principal of IPEKA Palembang Junior High and event chairperson, expressed her gratitude for the strong synergy across the school community. “This success is the result of everyone coming together with one shared purpose,” she said.
Supported by Local Institutions
To ensure the safety of all participants, the event was supported by the Health Department, Transportation Agency, local police, and Siloam Sriwijaya Hospital. Moreover, medical staff and ambulances were on standby throughout the event.
Firstly, each participant paid Rp100,000 and received a race pack. It included an exclusive jersey, medal, tote bag, bottled water, race BIB, and sponsored products.
IPEKA hopes this Fun Run will become a biannual tradition, strengthening the school community while promoting health and wellness. Above all, this vision aligns with the mission of IPEKA Christian School—to shape students with strong character and a heart for others.
