Kartini’s Day

Who doesn't know Ibu Kartini? She is a figure who struggles to free women from the shackles of injustice and fights for women's rights to be equal to men's rights, especially in the field of education. The story of the life and struggle of Raden Adjeng Kartini, who was later known as one of the pioneers of women's liberation in Indonesia, is so interesting that the Indonesian government declared her a national hero. Quoted from Feminist Education R.A. Kartini (2017) by Irma Nailul Muna, to build a civilized developed country, must start with the education of women. This is what R.A. Kartini did until the end of her life.

A Brief About Kartini's Life History

Raden Adjeng Kartini or R.A. Kartini is the daughter of the couple Raden Mas Adipati Ario Sosroningrat and Mrs. MA Ngasirah. In the history of Kartini Day, R.A. Kartini is known as a woman emancipation figure who strongly opposes the passive position of Indonesian women in the social system, family, and government. Her central belief was that women also had the same rights and abilities, and at that time only men could.

At a very young age, R.A. Kartini wrote several books about women, including Koja's marriage, which was published in Hollandsche Leile. Later, when she retired, she learned to read and taught some of the women in the neighborhood. To develop this idea, Kartini contacted her Dutch friends by letter.

This collection of letters has been edited, edited, and published in a book entitled “Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang.” The book was published in 1911, seven years after the death of R.A. Kartini.

Happy Kartini Day to all Indonesian women. Let's continue to be an inspiration for our nation.
