Happy Son, Happy Parent

Do you feel that you have made your children happy? And you feel that the children are happy with your efforts? However, the fact is why do children often find that they aren’t happy with your efforts to make them happy? One of the answers is maybe the method that you used to make your children happy isn’t in accordance with their love language. As a result, you feel you have made your children happy, but your children don’t feel that way. What is the language love of children? What is the language of children’s love? It is a child’s way of expressing and feeling love, where each child has a different language of love. The following are various kinds of love language according to Gary Chapman:

  1. Words of Affirmation
Children who have this love language will feel happy if given words of praise or words that express affection. Saying such as: “My boy is very smart”, will be a happy expression of love for children who have this love language.
  2. Quality Time
Some children feel happier if their parents provide a special time for them, such as to play together, study together, and do various activities together. If your children have this love language, make sure that the time you spend with them is really spent on them. Don’t let yourself be preoccupied with work, gadgets, or anything else.
  3. Gifts
For children who have this love language, receiving gifts from their parents will make them very happy. Gifts don’t always have to be expensive or spectacular. Even small gifts will be considered valuable by children. They feel cared for, considered important, and loved when they receive gifts from their parents.
  4. Acts of Service
Children with this love language feel happy when parents show a service attitude towards them: when parents cook for them, take them to school, prepare breakfast, help with study, and other forms of service. Serving your children doesn’t mean you pamper or treat them like a king. But show your children a special attitude or action that makes them feel important and meaningful to you.
  5. Physical Touch
For children with this love language, physical touch can make them happy. Give your children a hug, a head rub, a good night kiss, and other loving touches, then the children will feel that you love them.

It is important for parents to understand that the five love languages are needed by every child and children can have one or more types of love languages. Therefore, don’t let parents use only one language of love and ignore other forms of love language. Hope you can make your children happy with their love languages!
