Things to Pay Attention to When Children Participate in Limited Face-to-Face Activities

Distance learning during the pandemic has been carried out for approximately two years. Many students are getting bored and hope face-to-face schools will reopen. Some parents and teachers want the situation to return to normal and for their children to learn better at school.

Schools wishing to attend face-to-face lessons must meet certain requirements, including permission from the local government, teacher vaccinations, access to medical facilities, and permission from parents to allow children to attend school face-to-face.

The safety and health of students, teachers and other education personnel is a top priority in the implementation of limited face-to-face activities. To facilitate learning activities, parents need to pay attention to the following when their children participate in limited face-to-face activities:

  1. School Readiness
Parents were asked to see how well the school prepared for limited face-to-face activities. Parents need to ensure that teaching and learning activities are carried out with strict health protocols. Parents should also ensure that classrooms are sterile to prevent Covid-19 infection.
  2. Health Protocol
In addition to school readiness, parents must also emphasize the importance of health protocols for their children. Implementing the 5M process is very important to minimize the transmission of the virus, the 5M are washing hands, wearing masks, avoiding crowds, maintaining distance, and limiting mobility.
  3. Vaccine
Then make sure the teachers and staff at the school have followed the Covid-19 vaccination program. The reason is that children are more susceptible to contracting the coronavirus than adults around them. Not only educators but children over the age of 12 must also be vaccinated as soon as possible.
  4. Child’s Health
Keep an eye on your child's health after starting limited face-to-face activities. Give your child a break if he has symptoms that indicate a Covid-19 infection. If your child is unwell, do not allow your child to continue to have limited face-to-face activities.
  5. Classroom with Good Ventilation
Good air circulation is also a matter of concern. Classrooms should be at least ventilated with windows open (ideally two windows at the far end of the room). Good ventilation is important to maintain oxygen quality during teaching and learning activities.
